Superintendent Paul Daly joined the WA Police Force in 1995. Throughout his career, he has served at various police stations across both metropolitan and regional Western Australia.
Promoted to Superintendent in 2021, he played a pivotal role in the Police Command team during the COVID-19 pandemic. Over a two year period, Superintendent Daly provided essential planning and logistics expertise and acted as the liaison between the WA Police Force and external stakeholders to operationalise the management of COVID-19 outbreaks.
As a Forward Command for major emergency and counter terrorism responses, Superintendent Daly is a valued member of the WA Police Force Senior Command Cadre.
In February 2023, he was appointed Superintendent of Police Airwing. Under his leadership, he has overseen and managed the implementation of two H145 helicopters into service and driven the implementation of the drone expansion program into business-as-usual operations. He successfully advanced the “Drone in a Box” concept to the operational phase.
Superintendent Daly leads a national working group of law enforcement agencies across Australia focused on seeking regulatory relief from CASA regulations related to Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS). He has worked with CASA regulators to secure exemptions allowing emergency services to fly RPAS beyond visual line of sight and indoors within 30 meters of people. His strategic contributions have significantly enhanced the WA Police Force’s aviation support and transport capabilities.
Recognised as Police Officer of the Year in 2008 and 2012 for his outstanding service and dedication, Superintendent Daly’s notable contributions include his leadership as Officer in Charge of the Beverley and Margaret River stations, where he made a significant impact on the communities he served.
