
Stephen has worked in the Defence Industry for over 20 years as both a former serving member of the ADF and as a business professional in various projects, roles and functions. Stephen has worked in senior management positions Nationally, the Northern Territory and Victoria with a strong background in asset management, continuous improvement and industry collaboration initiatives. Stephen leads the Ventia Whole of Business Northern Territory Regional Steering Committee and Northern Territory/South Australia Regional Indigenous Steering Committee. Stephen is a passionate advocate for initiatives in community engagement and developing Northern Australia industry capability.
Stephen in his role has experienced first-hand the collaboration required in emergency response scenarios, having led the Ventia Team supporting the Defence Base Services recovery effort in 2018 following the damage from Cyclone Marcus in Darwin. In early 2020 Stephen and the Ventia team played a key role in the rapid activation of the mothballed Manigur Ma, Inpex Village (later to become the National Centre for Resilience) for the repatriation of the first 2 planes into Australia from the Wuhan province in the early stages of the Covid pandemic, and again were called upon in 2023 to support repatriation of remote indigenous communities as a result of major flooding events in the North-West of Australia.
Stephen and his family reside in Darwin whereby he is an appointed Director on the Board for the Northern Territory Chamber of Commerce and active participant in working groups in Northern Queensland and Northern WA supporting the development of strategies to enable opportunity for industry in building regional sovereign capability.
