Sandra Smith is the Manager of Research and Evaluation, Queensland Police Service, where she leads a dedicated team, whose vision is to ‘Lead collaboration and drive innovation and best practice through meaningful evidence-based research’.
Sandra is an alumni and Adjunct Research Fellow in the School of Criminology & Criminal Justice of Griffith University. A founding member of the Australia and New Zealand Police Advisory Agency (ANZPAA) Cross Jurisdictional Research Network, Sandra strongly believes in empowering QPS members to use research and evaluation principles to find out ‘what works’, and to that end regularly mentors police and civilian members with their own studies.
In her 15 year career with QPS, Sandra has represented the organisation in various state, national and international forums, including presenting findings from research projects at the American Society of Criminology Conference and the Stockholm Criminology Symposium.
