
Inspector Wade Jennings currently serves as the District Prevention Manager for Wellington District Police.
In this role, Wade leads a range of teams who enable day-to-day district operations in both frontline and background support functions. Among them are Deployment and Workforce Management, Intel, Road Policing, oversight of the delivery of the Tactical Response Model, Harm Prevention and Development.
For most of 2023, Wade has been relieving as the District Commander Wellington. During this time, he has provided leadership to staff through significant events—a hostel fatal fire, the local delivery of FIFA Women’s World Cup tournament and associated international VIP visits, implemented a new Tactical Response Model safety system across the district.
Wade joined the New Zealand Police in 2000 and spent the first 11 years of his policing career in Nelson. He then promoted to Public Safety Team Supervisor supporting frontline staff in Wellington. In 2013, Wade played an integral part in the initial set up of the District Command Centre which oversees daily staff deployment.
In 2016 Wade was promoted to Inspector in the role of District Deployment Manager. To continue developing as a leader, over four years, he undertook short development opportunities as Area Prevention Manager in the Hutt Valley and Wellington plus time as the Wellington Area Commander and was the Road Policing Manager.
