Greg has been in Police for 42 years, 10 years in Wellington, 22 years in Christchurch and came back to Wellington in January 2013 to take up a role as the CIB (Investigations) Development Manager.
He was promoted to Detective Inspector in 2004 and led a broad range of complex serious crime, organised crime and homicide investigation. Greg was promoted to Detective Superintendent in 2015 taking up the role of National Manager Financial Crime Group (FCG). He was the NZ representative on the FELEG Money Laundering Working Group for two years. The FCG targets assets accumulated through criminal offending and investigates complex money laundering. Since 2009 when the new CPRA came in $500 million in asset have been restrained in NZ from criminals across the world.
In March 2017 Greg took up his current role as the Director of the National Organised Crime Group (NZ Police.) This group focusses on top echelon transnational and national organised crime groups. NOCG has conducted multiple successful investigations over the last four years which includes the dismantling of 23 TNOC Operation cells operating in NZ. His leadership has focussed on changing mind-sets across government and private sector to make New Zealand more resilient against the impacts of organised crime by applying an all systems approach to disrupt and prevent organised crime group. Greg represents NZ Police on the three Australasian Working Groups Morpheus (Gangs), Athena (Firearms) and Vitreus (Drugs). Additionally since March 2021 he has been the National Commander for Op Tauwhiro which focussing on the disruption of the flow of illicit firearms to gangs and organised crime.
