
Deb Bailey has extensive experience of working the family violence and sexual abuse sectors across many years.
Deb has worked in a variety of roles that bring a depth of experience to her role as Chair of the Review Committee. They include as a Victorian Police officer, a family violence counsellor, a family violence project worker and senior policy roles at State and Commonwealth levels in domestic violence and sexual assault reform. She is a lawyer and has practised in NSW and Tasmania. More recently she has worked in the Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse Royal Commission and she provided consultant services to the setting up of the National Redress Scheme. These roles have highlighted the importance of the institutional response in the prevention of and responding to family violence and sexual abuse.
Deb is committed to social justice and the working towards the prevention of abuse of vulnerable people. She is pragmatic, experienced and well qualified to ensure the Review Committee addresses the safety of people experiencing abuse and making sure that those using abuse are held to account.
