Assistant Commissioner Peter Crozier has been a member of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) since 1987 and has performed operational duties across the AFP’s community policing, national and international responsibilities, including attachments to the United Nations, the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) and Sport Integrity Australia (SIA).
Peter was promoted to Superintendent in 2006 and in 2007 was seconded to the MPS SO15 Counter Terrorism Command in the United Kingdom. In 2008 Peter was deployed to Singapore as the AFP Senior Liaison Officer and in 2011 he returned to Australia as the Detective Superintendent leading the AFP’s Joint Counter Terrorism Team (JCTT) in Sydney.
Peter was promoted Commander in 2013 as the Commander Counter Terrorism Operations. In this role Peter led the AFP’s domestic and international counter-terrorism investigations in collaboration with the AFP’s national and international law enforcement and security partners. In 2015 Peter commenced as the Commander Criminal Assets, Fraud and Anti-Corruption leading the AFP’s commitment to a number of multi-agency taskforces addressing serious financial crime, criminal assets investigations and corporate corruption matters.
Peter was promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner in 2018 and has performed roles as the AFP’s Assistant Commissioner People, Safety & Security and Assistant Commissioner Crime Command. In June 2020 Peter was seconded to SIA to contribute to the establishment of the agency.
Peter returned to the AFP in July 2021 to the role of Deputy Chief Police Officer (DCPO) ACT Policing. As DCPO Peter leads ACT Policings Operations and Investigations Commands. Peter also continues to lead the AFP’s teams undertaking the investigation of the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH-17 over Ukraine in July 2014.
