Assistant Commissioner Bruce O’Brien has been a member of New Zealand Police for 23 years, and is currently responsible for Intelligence, Deployment, Evidence Based Policing and Road Policing nationally. He is passionate about using data and research to support decision making and problem solving.
His background is primarily in the operational and investigation areas of policing, but has also led the research arm of policing for the last four years through the New Zealand Evidence Based Policing Centre. Bruce stays connected with law enforcement partners globally to look at opportunities to use technology in preventing, investigating and solving crime, while also partnering with the private sector to help reduce harm in communities
