
Ali Sears is an operational-based Forensic Scientist with 30+ years of experience primarily in forensic biology & DNA discipline, including specialist DNA techniques such as mitochondrial DNA and phenotype testing. Has co-authored several DNA-related research papers, recently completed a Master of Science degree focusing on using DNA data for more informed operational decision making. She is a current co-supervisor of further projects investigating the utility of DNA results for legal outcomes.
She chairs the NSWPF Forensic Investigative Genetic Genealogy (FIGG) internal Governance Board which oversees operational implementation of FIGG for NSW and, Chairs the ANZPAA NIFS FIGG Project Working Group which has representatives from across Australian and New Zealand law enforcement and forensic laboratory government agencies.
